GOODPHIL
What is Goodphil?
Individually, Filipino Student Associations across the state of Texas provide thousands of college students an opportunity to connect with Filipino culture, their community, as well as each other. In turn, each FSA cultivates it’s own unique culture within itself based on Filipino values of pamilya (family), tuwa (joy), kasipagan (diligence/hard-working), and mabuting pakikitungo (treating others well).
Goodphil is an event held over spring break where each of these individual FSA's gather in one city to celebrate Filipino culture, as well as ourselves as Filipino-American college students. It is a weekend-long celebration of us. We get to watch our friends compete in dance and sports. We have special guest performers and MC’s. And we get to make priceless memories with our peers as we practice together, compete together, and experience Goodphil together.
Goodphil is organized annually by the Southern Intercollegiate Filipino Alliance (SIFA) and hosted by a rotation FSAs of five universities (UH, UTSA, UTA, TAMU, and UT).
How can I participate in Goodphil?
You can participate in Goodphil (dance and sports) by being a member of a SIFA-affiliated FSA. Each FSA has its own rules and requirements for membership and Goodphil eligibility. For UHFSA, all Goodphil participants must:
be a paid member of UHFSA
have accumulated 120 member points
and have been accepted into a dance and/or sports team.
